Beach Sand

You need _____ Tons of Beach Sand

How To Measure

For rectangular areas, multiply Length x Width. For round pools, measure the diameter. Hardscaper Tip: Always add 10% to your order. Sand compacts slightly when it is first spread and leveled; you’d rather have a small pile left over for "top-offs" than be three wheelbarrows short.

Depth Recommendations

  • Above-Ground Pool Base: 2–4 inches (leveled).

  • Backyard Beach: 4–8 inches (over non-woven fabric).

  • Professional Volleyball: 12–18 inches.

  • Sandboxes: 6–10 inches.

Premium, Washed Multi-Purpose Sand for Recreation & Construction

Not all sand is created equal. In the Michiana area, homeowners often struggle to find sand that is clean enough for bare feet but stable enough for a pool base. Our Beach Sand is a high-quality, washed masonry-grade sand—the same "gold standard" used by professional pool installers and masonry contractors.

Whether you are transforming a corner of your Buchanan backyard into a tropical escape or prepping a level base for a 20-foot pool in Niles, this sand provides a soft, rock-free finish. Because it is locally sourced and screened, it’s designed to handle our regional moisture levels without "clumping" like lower-grade fill sands.

FAQ

How do I keep my sand from "disappearing" into the ground?

This is the most common failure in backyard beaches. Over time, the sand will naturally migrate down into the dirt/clay, turning your beach into mud. We strongly recommend laying a non-woven geotextile fabric down first. This acts as a permanent barrier that allows water to drain through but keeps your sand clean and separated from the soil.

Is this sand safe for vinyl pool liners?

Yes! Because this is a washed masonry-grade sand, it is free of the large, jagged pebbles found in standard "bank run" sand. It provides a smooth, cushioned base that protects your liner from punctures and prevents "footprints" from forming under the pool floor.

Does this sand require a drainage system?

For standard sandboxes and small beach areas, the sand itself drains well. However, if you are building a professional-sized volleyball court on heavy Michiana clay, you may need a 4-inch base of clean drainage stone (like #8 stone) under your fabric to prevent the court from becoming "spongy" after a heavy rain.
