Finding the real cause

Water collects, freezes, and shoves the surface out of level, or the clay works up into a thin base until the whole thing rolls and dips. On the low riverfront lots it happens sooner and worse. The other half of our calls are surface-only: washed-out color, weedy joints, moss and staining from years without a seal, with a perfectly sound structure underneath. We say plainly at the estimate which of the two you have, so nobody buys a rebuild to solve what a cleanup would settle.
Three levels of repair
Clean, re-sand & seal. No digging. We strip the dirt and moss, draw out the efflorescence haze before it locks under the finish, refill the joints with fresh polymeric sand, and seal to bring the color back and shut out moisture.
Lift and re-lay. One zone dropped. We lift just those pavers, correct the base beneath them, and reset the original stones.
Full rebuild. When clay has hollowed out the foundation across the whole surface, a patch is money spent twice. We strip it, rebuild the base to our new-install standard, and relay it to last.
Leaning walls and keeping the fix
A bowing retaining wall is a drainage failure, not a stacking one. Water builds pressure behind a wall that was never given a way to drain, and that pressure tips it. We excavate behind the wall and install clean drain stone and perforated pipe to bleed the pressure off, correcting why it moved instead of just straightening it. Stone Overlays in Mishawaka, IN

And we build water an exit: perpendicular relief channels under the border stones and a geotextile-and-sand bed under the field, so moisture that reaches the slab drains out instead of freezing under the finish.
No slab left showing
We wrap the step fronts and landing sides with matching stone risers so nothing gray shows at the edges and the finished piece reads as solid stonework, not a veneer.
