Sunshine Ligustrum

Year-Round Golden Color

Sunshine Ligustrum is a game-changer for foundation plantings. It is a sterile, non-invasive privet grown strictly for its brilliant, golden-yellow foliage. It does not flower (so no allergies!) and is evergreen in warmer zones (semi-evergreen to deciduous in colder Michigan winters). It is heat and drought tolerant.

Why You Need It:

  • Color Punch: Provides electric yellow color without needing flowers.
  • Sterile: Does not produce seeds or spread invasively like old privets.
  • Hedge Perfect: Takes shearing beautifully for a formal, low hedge.

Planting Tips:

Requires Full Sun to maintain its bright yellow color (in shade, it turns lime green). It is very adaptable to soil types.
