A paver pool deck is a serious investment — and like anything exposed to Michigan sun, rain, and freeze-thaw, it needs maintenance to keep looking its best. Over time, even a beautifully installed patio starts to show it: color fades, joints wash out, weeds and ants move into the sand, and moss creeps into the shady spots. This New Buffalo pool deck was ready for a full restoration, and that's exactly what we delivered.
What We Did
We brought this expansive paver pool deck back to life with a complete clean, re-sand, and seal — the three-step process that restores a paver surface and protects it for years to come.
First, we deep-cleaned the entire surface, pulling out dirt, organic staining, weeds, and old degraded joint material so the pavers were back to their true color. Next, we swept in fresh polymeric sand across every joint. Unlike regular sand, polymeric sand locks together when activated — it stabilizes the pavers, resists washout, and makes it far harder for weeds and ants to take hold. Finally, we applied a quality sealer to lock in that rich, saturated color, add a layer of protection against stains and the elements, and give the whole deck a clean, finished look.
There was one more thing we caught along the way. During our initial walkthrough, we noticed the steps had loose treads that were never properly secured — a safety issue waiting to happen. Rather than work around it, we re-glued and re-set the treads as part of the job. It's the kind of detail a lot of crews would walk right past, and it's exactly the kind of thing we don't.
The result speaks for itself: crisp joint lines, deep and even color, solid footing on the steps, and a pool deck that looks like it was just installed — ready for another season of Michigan summers around the water.
