Wild Stonecrop

Low carpet of Wild Stonecrop with white star-like flowers.

A Succulent for the Shade

Most succulents love sun, but Wild Stonecrop (Sedum ternatum) loves the shade. It is a low-growing native groundcover with fleshy, green, succulent leaves. In spring, it is covered in starry white flowers. It is perfect for crawling over mossy rocks, damp logs, or tucking into a stone wall.

Why You Need It:

  • Shade Succulent: A rare drought-tolerant plant that actually prefers shade.
  • Rock Garden: Perfect for a shady rockery or fairy garden.
  • Early Nectar: Provides food for early bees and pollinators.

Planting Tips:

Thrives in Part Shade to Shade. It likes moist soil but needs good drainage (like on a slope or rocky area). It is evergreen in mild winters.
